We will take a look at signs of acid reflux in the following article. It is a good place to start if you are new to the subject. There is a lot more information available for those that want to make a more detailed study.
Signs And Symptoms Of Acid Reflux Disease

By Tom Houser

The causes of acid reflux (GERD) are rather simple should they not lead to complications. GERD without complications causes heartburn, nausea, and regurgitation. However, the complications are rather severe, ranging from an ulcerated esophagus, symptoms of coughing and asthma to Barrett’s esophagus which left untreated can lead to esophageal cancer and eventually death. So, it is best to seek treatment for the symptoms of Acid Reflux disease (GERD) before complications have set in.

What is Acid Reflux Disease?

Acid reflux disease is frequent (and sometimes not so frequent) regurgitation (liquid or food being forced in reverse direction in the digestive system) of digestive juices into the esophagus. These juices contain the digestive juices, one of which is a very strong acid (hydrochloric acid, HCL) which burns the lower esophagus and causes much pain and sometimes regurgitation of small amounts of liquid into the mouth. Acid reflux also causes heartburn and nausea.

Should these symptoms persist without monitoring and treatment the disease can lead to precancerous skin cells growing in the esophagus, this is called Barrett’s esophagus and can lead to cancer of the esophagus.

What causes acid reflux disease?

There are several causes of GERD. Acid reflux disease can be caused by any one of several disorders of the upper digestive tract. It is also a possible disturbance pregnancy because both hormones and the growing fetus are pushing on the digestive tract and can cause relaxation or opening of the lower esophageal sphincter which can cause a reflux of digestive juices into the esophagus and thus acid reflux disease. Hiatal hernia, which is a hernia or distention of the walls of the lower esophagus weakens the lower esophagus and thus sometimes causes GERD. The reason it only causes this in some cases is not known. There are several others such as congenital weakness or other abnormalities in the lower esophagus.

Signs and symptoms of acid reflux disease

The chief signs and symptoms are heartburn, a pain in the lower esophagus caused by the acid having prolonged contact with the unprotected lining of the lower esophagus. Nausea and regurgitation are the common symptoms which are caused by some of the digestive juices being forced up into the mouth.

Burning feeling in chest or heartburn after taking your food, burning sensation in throat, becoming croaky and even loosing voice, lingering bitter acidic taste in mouth, continuous coughing, finding it difficult to swallow are other few common symptoms.

The larger problem with GERD is with the possible complications that can occur with prolonged damage of the lower esophagus. Barrett’s cells have been discussed and are a serious complication that can lead to esophageal cancer. Other complications are an ulcerated esophagus, and coughing for unknown reasons, either because of the irritation in the region of the lungs and esophagus, or because an asthma attack has been triggered.

Treatment of acid reflux disease

The treatments for GERD (acid reflux disease) are certain medications, and a change of diet and other minor lifestyle changes that assist in decreasing the symptoms. Acidic foods are eliminated, fatty foods which can lower the LES (lower esophageal sphincter) and thus open it and cause acid reflux. Changes in sleeping patterns are also needed to prevent heartburn at night.

Are There Really Health Risks Associated With Acid Reflux That Could Be Serious?

Are there any health risks associated with acid reflux? Is there a potential that a simple case of heartburn could actually be dangerous? Does acid reflux pose a threat to other parts of the body? Well, a simple case of heartburn is unlikely to be any type of risk. Everyone gets heartburn once in a while. But there can actually be potential health risks associated with acid reflux. Typically though, acid reflux is more of the symptom than the actual problem itself. Some cases of acid reflux and chronic heartburn are actually a result of a bacteri called H. pylori (Helicobacter pylori). Typical medicinal treatments are unable to treat this bacterial infection.

Long Term Health Risks Associated With Acid Reflux

If you have been suffering from acid reflux over the long term without successful results, it is wise to get test for H. pylori. Over long periods of time acid reflux can cause damage to the esophagus due to repeated wear from stomach acid, and can significantly increase the chances of esophageal cancer. Having occasional heartburn after a meal happens at times to the best of us, and it not usually a case for alarm. But prolonged symptoms such as day to day burning in the esophagus and throat, problems with swallowing, and even regurgitation or vomiting in more severe cases, should immediately be referred to your physician.

In most situations the occasional case of heartburn or indigestion poses little threat, but an ongoing case of acid reflux can potentially have dangerous side effects and should not be ignored. Listen to your body! These symptoms when ongoing is your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong. Most often this is a case of not following a proper diet. Seek care immediately if you have been suffering from acid reflux regularly or for long periods of time, because left unchecked the health risks associated with acid reflux can actually be severe.

The gerd and heartburn blog was created to be a hub of all the enthusiasts and even the experts to provide useful information for the beginners. This blog has grown to be a comprehensive portal for people who have an interest in gerd and heartburn.

A lot of readers have voted this blog to be a very good place to start when learning about it. We have sections that tackle the subject in general and we also have an extensive library of specialized information.
Symptoms and Remedies For Acid Reflux (GERD) and Heartburn

By Jack Blast

There are a number of symptoms associated with GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) which is also called acid reflux and heartburn. These symptoms range from mild to very severe and serious problems that need to be dealt with many times by consulting your health care professional.

The below list may not consist of all the differing symptoms but does highlight the majority of them.

Coughing and wheezing

Difficulty swallowing

Gassy stomach (belching)

Heartburn, which consists of a burning sensation under the breastplate that may be increased by lying down, bending or stooping over or even eating the wrong foods.

Heartburn may be more frequent and more severe later at night.

A scratchy hoarse voice

An ill feeling coupled with nausea and vomiting

Regurgitation of food

A sore throat

Acid reflux, GERD, may have all of these symptoms or perhaps only a few of them or even just one. You must understand that this can be a very serious disease and is not something to play around with or to ignore. If it continues to plague you then you need to see your doctor and do something about it.

There are a number of different medicines on the market for acid indigestion that tend to eliminate the discomfort and pain but do not take care of the problem. There are some natural remedies for acid reflux and heart burn that not only eliminate the symptoms but also helps to alleviate the problem.

Of course perhaps the most natural would be to be careful of what you eat. Fatty and spicy foods can promote acid reflux commonly called heartburn. Those with high acidic content such as tomatoes and tomato dishes should be avoided or at least cut back on.

There are a number of foods that are known gastric acid stimulants. Things like onions, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts are easy things to stay away from but chocolate and peppermint can be a little tougher to avoid. You may not need to give these up completely but do learn to use moderation.

Some items that are better ingested during the day and not right before bedtime are coffee, alcohol, calcium supplements and vitamin C. Stay away from dairy products and milk right before bedtime as well since these will all stimulate your stomach acids.

A couple of other lifestyle changes you should do are pretty simple. Eat five to six smaller meals during the day and elevate your head while resting or sleeping. I had a friend who slept every night in his reclining chair so he did not experience the burning sensation. He finally got things under control and can now sleep in his bed with just a little elevation. Drinking water can help not only gastric problems but many other issues as well.

If you are over weight it would be very helpful for you to lose some of the extra pounds. The extra weight adds pressure onto your stomach causing it to push the acids up through the sphincter muscle resulting in acid reflux or GERD.

I hope I have help you in your effort to find some temporary relief for your GERD, also called acid reflux and heartburn. It can be a very discomforting disease.

The article below is the latest addition to our site and it is a real education to read. We hope to sparks some ideas for you.
Acid Reflux Remedy: How An Apple Can Help Remedy Heartburn

Is there really a natural remedy for acid reflux? If you are in the least bit skeptical of natural health remedies, I understand! My dad would have been just as skeptical as most until he accidentally discovered his first natural acid reflux remedy. Let me explain, my dad suffered from ALL of the following: acid reflux; heartburn; hiatal hernia; gastritis; esophageal reflux and bile reflux when I was growing up (past tense).

According to my dad, his life was miserable because of acid reflux symptoms which included: painful heartburn; regurgitation of food; harsh chest pains; difficulty swallowing; dental erosion; hoarse speaking; and asthma-like symptoms. And finally, I almost lost my dad after an acid reflux stomach surgery went wrong over 30 years ago. Today, my dad is a survivor of acid reflux and has actually freed himself completely from all of the listed complications. And he did it with no surgery and no medications!

How My Dad Discovered the Remedy, and discovered how an apple can help remedy heartburn:

My dad tried every doctor recommendation for curing his acid reflux. He tried medication, more pillows, an elevated bed, surgery, and pretty much everything else under the umbrella of acid reflux treatment until one night.

My dad woke up one morning and realized that he slept the whole night without one heartburn disturbance. He was dumbfounded? Sleeping the whole night with no heartburn hasn’t happened in years? My dad was elated and immediately back tracked his previous night’s steps to see if he could find the cause of his perfect night. The only possible solution was an apple?

An Apple is One Simple Acid Reflux Home Remedy

After experimenting with various apples and amounts of apple, my dad finally remedied his acid reflux naturally. My dad couldn’t wait to tell his doctors who were mystified by this natural home remedy. However, my dad was not finished! He was determined to discover more!

Cause of Acid Reflux Leads to The Solution to Acid Reflux

The burning feeling in your upper abdomen, chest and throat was once called acid indigestion. However, doctors now call it acid reflux because powerful stomach acid is slowly leaking through the Lower Esophageal Sphincter valve (LES) that is not working properly. As the potent acids get into the throat it burns because the throat does not contain the same protective lining as the stomach. By understanding what neutralizes the stomach acids (hydrochloric acid (HCI)) and discovering how to strengthen the LES valve you can naturally treat and remedy your acid reflux. My dad did it (starting with a simple apple) and you can too!

For the past 4 years, my dad and I have been working with acid reflux researchers to discover countless natural remedies that work. By understanding what causes acid reflux, we have discovered what can alleviate acid reflux. Here’s to your health!

Acid reflux in babies – is it feasible or maybe even common? Yes, acid reflux does occur in babies. As a matter of fact if you’re a human being that possesses a stomach and an esophagus, then you’ve probably experienced acid reflux. Even as an infant.

Acid levels raise both in grown ups as well as infants. Adults can tell what they are feeling but in the case of babies the parents have to take maximum care and keep a history of the babies health. Talking to a doctor regarding any problems and having them adequately take a look at your son or daughter is strongly suggested. Ordinarily acid reflux in babies disappears as your baby becomes more mature. It can vanish once your baby gets to be 6 to12 months old. However, if the reflux is still there after this long be sure to consult your child’s doctor. Despite the fact that it is possible to learn a lot by doing research (online, for instance), nothing is a substitute for a professional within the health field.

Acid reflux in infants happens because the digestive system isn’t fully developed. This may result in food coming back up into the throat. This occurs because the function of a babies muscle at the bottom of the esophagus (lower esophageal sphincter or LES for short) is still weak enabling stomach acid to go backward from the stomach into the esophagus.

It isn’t always easy to detect acid reflux in babies. Consulting a doctor is essential in this case. The most typical indication of this is “spitting up. ” Spitting up may happen even if the baby sneezes or coughs. Doctor’s advice may vary with the severity of the disease.

At stated before, the cause of this is a result of stomach acid traveling back into the esophagus as a result of the weak flap which covers the opening at the bottom of the esophagus and top of the stomach. The contents of the stomach also come back in the throat together with gas, making the baby throw up what has been consumed.

Indications of acid reflux in babies:
Spitting up or vomiting generally is a clear indication of acid reflux in babies.
They tend to spit up a good portion of what they have eaten, and as parents we are accustomed to this mess! Since their digestive system is delicate, they sometimes cannot endure this discomfort, and may be particularly crabby or upset. Loss of weight has also been observed in some infants, but is not highly common. Though some babies spit up they’re almost always quite healthy. Continuous and frequent fever can sometimes be observed in infants with acid reflux, in addition to breathing problems, voice alterations, and difficulty in swallowing, even though these symptoms are relatively uncommon.

Preventing the mess:
A few small caring measures toward your little one’s health can avoid the sometimes embarrassing situation of being spit up on and aid in your baby’s maximum comfort.
Feed your baby with extra small meals allowing uniform gaps between feedings.
Allow gas to pass unhampered by positioning your baby straight while and after feeding.
Burping will reduce the strain on the digestive system. Make your baby burp! Gently patting them on the back for a couple of minutes at a time is an effective method to accomplish this.
Providing him or her with natural food is essential. Breast feeding is the least heavy and the healthiest meal for your baby. This also develops a bond between the mother and the baby.
Make sure your baby sleeps in the right position. Elevate your baby’s head when asleep at night and in the day time you can also make her or him lie on their stomach for half an hour right after eating a meal. When putting them to bed for the night though it’s safest to lie them on their back.
Thickening the consistency of cereal may also help, but I cannot stress yet enough that it’s recommended to obtain your doctor’s opinion on this.
Include new food items, and make modifications in your baby’s diet.
There is also a specifically designed pillow for acid reflux patients, and you may use one of these to improve your child’s comfort while sleeping.
With modest variations in your baby’s diet and lifestyle and a little attention to these details you can make a positive change.
Take a little time to understand more about acid reflux and methods to deal with the condition (if you’re reading this you’re probably doing that already).

If you notice any irregular changes in your baby’s health it’s high time to seek advice from your physician.
There is absolutely no substitute for getting your child regular checkups, prevention is the most effective medicine!

Papaya

Papaya digestive enzymes, which contain papain, are also excellent for protein digestion and you can use them with each meal. Use 500mg or more of papaya enzymes per meal.

You can also buy bromelain as tablet and take 200-500mg per meal.

Chicory Root

Chicory comes from a family of bitter herbs that contain endive and escarole. Boil 1 1/2 cup of chicory root for 5 – 10 minutes. After it colds to room temperature, drink this tea to correct acid reflux or heartburn.

Adding these herbs to your salad will also have benefits in preventing acid reflux. Eating those foods that are alkaline is the best way to avoid acid reflux and heartburn.

Using the remedies listed here will give relief from your acid reflux. But more importantly add a salad to your diet everyday and you will have less acid reflux in your life.

If you would like to know more about gastro reflux diet - then you will want to read this article. It includes plenty of information about this subject that is sure to help you better understand the ins and outs that seem to confuse most people. It really does not have to be difficult to understand.

The gastro reflux diet information that follows is one way to look at this information, and after reading the article you are free to form your own opinion. Whether or not you agree with the subject matter is up to you, and you are certainly free to make up your own mind about the material presented here.
If you are like me, I’m sure you can recall the emotions in that particular event (especially the first time it happened). After calming you down with powerful sedatives and a series of tests, the truth was revealed. You don’t have a heart problem. You have what is known as Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disorder (GERD) or simply Acid Reflux. And for awhile you experienced what is known as Heartburn.

Nothing serious, claims the doctor and her nurses (or so they say).

You take a minute or so to thank God that it wasn’t something worse, and the resident doctor assures that you’re not alone as that other guy in the ICU was just diagnosed with GERD and gives you a short talk about stress and diet and how it creates and aggravates one’s reflux. She gives your needed emergency medicine, a medical prescription, along with an advice to get a follow up check-up from a specialist.

Obviously, you follow doctor’s orders, take all the recommended treatment and get back to a normal lifestyle. Which lasts for 2 weeks tops. Then it happens.

Again.

You’re rushed back to the emergency room. For the same thing.

Why?

According to gastro-enterologists (people who specialize in digestive disorders), acid reflux occurs when stomach acid backs up into the lower esophagus up to your throat and causes irritation. The levels of reflux vary as it can simply be an occasional nuisance but if not taken cared of, can turn into a life-threatening disorder.

But why doesn’t the prescribed medicine eliminate the problem? What’s wrong with taking these drugs?

1. Liquid or regular antacids (e.g. Maalox, Tums, Kremil)
2. Medicine to reduce acid secretion (e.g. Nexium, Prevacid, Losec, Zantac)
3. Medicine to improve stomach muscle action (e.g. Motilium, Plasil)

Almost everyone who has GERD, knows that they are only prescribed these types of medication for 1-2 weeks. After that, they are supposed to stop and the medicine supposedly should do its job. More often than not however, this is not the case.

But when you are rushed to the E.R. again, you are still given the exact same thing (or in larger dosages this time). In a worse scenario, you’re given additional medication.

Have you ever asked yourself why conventional medicine focuses more on acid reflux symptoms instead of the root cause of the problem? Why they insist on using the “band-aid” approach of treatment when there are natural and safer ways to get rid of your condition… for good?

It’s a good thing someone told me about them before it was too late.

Acid Reflux Home Remedies Can And Do Work With Minimal Effort!

Home remedies are the best thing short of a by-your-side professional. These have demostrated to be not only powerful but quick results as a remedy towards acid reflux (also known as GERD or GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease). The following are widely recognised and established cures known around around the globe. Natural home remedies have made their own mark as being as effective as most health care solutions and a sure remedy for acid reflux disease. Furthermore, these are guaranteed to produce absolutely no negative effects, although with these remedies, as with anything, adequately follwing the procedure is required for it to have beneficial results.

The various types of therapies for acid reflux are herbal (plant based) and natural remedies, medicines, surgical procedures as well as specially designed acid reflux pillows.
The do-it-yourself solutions are easily available and don’t cost much. Some of these remedies are the ingredients which we use in our food dishes. Let’s dig in and explore these home remedies for acid reflux right now!

Vegetables: The King of Health. Fresh vegetables are the best remedy for acid reflux. Point blank. They’re easily accessible, inexpensive, and it’s easy to add them to any diet. Adding green leafy vegetables to your diet can make an immense difference in your digestive system’s effectiveness. Make sure that first of all the produce you purchase is fresh. You can blend vegetables to make a juice, steam them, eat them raw, or if anything, use them as a side in every meal cooked or not. But fresh vegetable juices, particularly because they are so easily digestible, have been proven to be an extremely effective combatant against acid reflux.

So now let’s get more specific and explore ingredients themselves that will not only deal with reflux disease, but are excellent for your general health as well.

Apples: An excellent aid to digestion. It’s hard to beat apples when it comes to proper digestion of food. Apple cider vinegar, made from the juice of the apple is easily absorbed by the digestive system. Apple cider pills are also available but they might not be as pure as the liquid form of this cure.

Amla: Amla has been proven to be effective as a cure for numerous health ailments. It is effective for hair related problems and has been shown to improve eye sight as well. It is a natural anti-oxidant and also an effective home remedy for acid reflux.

Ginger: Used commonly in many recipies, a cup of hot ginger tea is not only a soothing treat to sip, but is very soothing to the stomach as well. It is also effective with problems related to cold and cough.

Garlic: Garlic is an old school cure against heart problems, coughing and congestion, reducing cholesterol, and of course, acid reflux. It naturally produces a boost in your digestion power. Consuming 3 to 4 cloves of fresh garlic every day has been shown to have great benefits, but I would also recommend chewing lots of gum!

Black Pepper: Strangely enough, although it would seem like an irritant, black pepper – an ingredient used for garnishing many recipes – is well known for its aid in digestion and is a revered cure for all problems related to digestion.

Aloe Vera: Similar to it’s more well known effects on the skin, aloe vera has a relaxing effect on the throat and stomach, and can give relief to the burning sensation caused by acid reflux.

Jethimadh: This is a natural antacid, a small herb found in South East Europe and South West Asia, and is effective in reducing the effects of reflux. Drinking a cup of tea by adding this herb can also be effective on headaches and blood disorders.

Strive to follow a balanced diet and a healthy routine even when implementing these home remedies for acid reflux. Exercise as often as possible, don’t over eat, avoid food which contains high fat and oil, avoid spicy hot food, eat at regular intervals 3 to 4 times, do not smoke or drink during eating, keep your head a little higher while sleeping or use the specially designed acid reflux pillows for this purpose, cold drinks (especially soda drinks) should be avoided, and give yourself a couple of hours at least between eating and going to bed.

Having said this there’s a lot that just comes down to common sense. Natural foods will reduce acid reflux symptoms if you have them. Eating foods high in fatty content, carbonated beverages, spicy foods, lots of starchy foods…well, they’re going to irritate you if acid reflux is a problem. Particularly in excess. Moderation when eating anything that is unhealthy is the key. We all eat unhealthy foods once in a while. The most common cause of acid reflux is diet. Can’t stress it enough. Apply these home remedy cures and make use of them, but it ultimately comes down to your action…your personal discipline. The cures are there, now imbed it in yourself to use them!

In order to prevent acid reflux (heartburn), which foods should you avoid? Food is the principal cause. There are various other factors for example stress and simply overeating, nonetheless our diet proves to be the key. It’s really a bit more than just you are what you eat! The meals we take in either agree with us or they don’t, but not simply because one person can eat a piece of pizza and another cannot. There are reasons for this. And it tends to be fairly universal when it comes to the human race. Some of us tend to be more susceptible to heartburn and even persistent acid reflux disease typically as a consequence of long term eating habits, exercise regimen, in addition to day to day encounters we cope with which cause us to be in either a condition of stress or a state of ease.
Eating healthy is obviously always the effective course. Everybody knows this. However it’s often times a lot easier said than done. Regardless of whether you are suffering from any health condition or not it is far better to eat healthy to stay healthy. But some diseases are such that you need take extra care in your daily routine. A small adjustment in your routine and your eating behaviors and the ailment rears up its head and starts triggering health issues. Let us take diabetes for example: If you have even a small amount of candy, which you are not supposed to have, the next day you see an excessive level of blood sugar and then for the rest of the week or even a couple of weeks. So it is best to keep control of what you eat and not consume what brings about high sugar levels or significant complications will arise. Similarly if you are suffering from acid reflux you should adhere to a certain diet program and manage the things you eat.

Foods to avoid:
There are a variety of cures available to combat acid reflux. But allow us to first find what exactly needs to be reduced or avoided from your diet. Specifically Meals which will increase acid levels in the stomach should be avoided. Chocolates, coffee, and soft drinks fall into this category. Lemons, limes and high citrus foods significantly raise the chances of escalating stomach acid content, so steer clear of consuming fruits and other foods that have high amounts of citric acid.
The severity of acid reflux differs from person to person. Before starting any kind of diet a physician really should be conferred with and medical supervision should be sought out.

As a result of a weakened muscle covering the esophagus, acid from the stomach moves back into the throat. This acid solution is so powerful that it might also lead to damage to the lining of the esophagus.
Those who suffer from this are the people that have irregular eating habits, smokers, those who do not work out, who consume alcoholic beverages, expecting women, children and infants. Making a handful of healthy changes in your every day schedule will surely help.

Treatments for acid reflux can be very effective. Cures like medicines, home remedies, natural cures, and herbal cures can have very positive results along with following a healthy diet.

A few small ideas to follow consciously are:

Eat slowly and in small quantities. Give your food time to digest by eating in intervals as opposed to filling yourself up immediately or eating in large quantities.

Drink lots of water to detoxify your digestive system. A glass of warm water after meals also helps in digestion.

A cup of herbal tea as well boosts the digestion process.

Those who don’t exercise also tend to suffer from acid reflux. Exercising is the least difficult way to remain in good shape and happy.

Following up your healthy diet with these natural remedies produce quick results. Consequently if you cut down the mentioned undesirable food products and you implement the use of natural home remedies then you will certainly experience positive results in a fairy short period of time.

Taking this path with not only reduce or even cure acid reflux symptoms, but will improve your overall health and make it easier to stay fit.

Acid Reflux is mainly caused due to eating habits. Wrong eating habits and wrong food intake are the main causes of heartburn, which is the most common symptom of acid reflux. So to prevent all these and to maintain good health one needs to adhere to a properly planned diet. It’s important to avoid the foods that cause acid irritation in the stomach which then weakens the muscle at the base of the esophagus.

Suggested Diet for GERD (Acid Reflux) Prevention:
Food items which need to be avoided and which irritate the esophagus:
Caffeine products, chocolates, alcohol, high calorie foods, foods high in fat content, fruits which contain citrus juice like oranges, lemons, limes, etc.,pepper, chilly peppers, etc.

Well balanced meals:
The meals we take should be well balanced. Avoid over eating or eating or consuming heavy meals. Eating at regular intervals helps maintain a healthy digestive system. It’s important to eat small meals at regular intervals to avoid stomach acid buildup and irritation.

Avoid high calorie food: Avoid eating fatty stuff or a high calorie diet which is full of oil and other unhealthy items for your health.

Cut down the spice: Spicy food is the common cause for heart burns. Avoid eating spicy food as it is harmful for the health.

No Drinking: Alcohol increases the possibility of heartburn. So avoid alcohol before during and after your meal.

Instructions to follow after the meal:
Avoid smoking: Smoking should be avoided as it contains nicotine which can trigger heartburn.

H2O (Water): Drinking a glass of lukewarm water or a cup of herbal tea will help neutralize the unwanted acid thus keeping the digestive system clean and calm.

Watch what you eat: Wrong food can sometimes cause severe health problems. So it is always better to know what you are eating. Fast food in particular can be harmful as these food items contain ingredients which not only cause heartburn but have been linked to numerous digestive and overall health problems. When you go out for lunch or dinner it is better to eat a low calorie diet rather than eating heavy food. Choose steamed food dishes instead of oily fried dishes. If you don’t wish to eat anything go in for a liquid diet such as soup. Be wise when you order food and don’t just eat for the sake of eating. Don’t give into eating as a habit but only eat when you are legitimately hungry.

Food you should eat to help prevent acid reflux:
Healthy foods are naturally always better for you especially if you already suffer from hearburn. Logically, it is always better to eat what is healthy even if you do not suffer from acid reflux symptoms, lest you end up with this problem in the future.
It is strongly advised that you consult a doctor and obtain a suggested diet and a prescribed schedule on which to execute it, which of course will include healthy food items.
Listed below are some foods which are know to reduce acid reflux and keep irritation at bay:
Fresh fruits like apples and bananas should be included in your diet. Nothing aids proper digestion like fresh fruit.
All green vegetables like peas and green beans. Most other vegetables such as carrots, baked potatoes, and cabbage should be eaten regularly.
